NEW BUILD · KIDS & EVENTS · MAY 2026
Live in four weeks. Ranking in three months.
Genevieve had an idea, a name she loved and nothing else. No website, no content, no brand rules, no search history. Scriblz brings paint, slime and colourdough parties to homes across Newcastle and the Hunter — and needed a site that sounded like her.
A blank page
Nothing at all. No website, no content, no brand guidelines, no search history to build on. Just a business idea, a name, and a founder who knew exactly what she wanted the parties to feel like — but not what a website needed to do about it.
Personality is the product
Most of my work is fixing something that exists. This was the opposite. Scriblz sells a feeling — a kid's birthday they'll remember — and the whole appeal is Genevieve herself. Get that wrong and it reads like every other party service in the region.
WHAT WAS COMPLETED
Four weeks, blank page to live
Structure before design — a page per party type, so paint, slime and colourdough could each rank on their own terms rather than competing on one page.
Mobile first, genuinely — parents book birthday parties on a phone, often one-handed. Every layout decision started there.
Copy in Genevieve's voice — warm, specific and funny where it should be, without losing the practical detail parents need before booking.
SEO foundations from day one — titles, meta descriptions, heading structure and schema built in, not bolted on later.
A blog written for search — answering what parents actually type, starting with party ideas in Newcastle.
Prices on the page — from $320 and from $350, visible rather than hidden behind an enquiry form.
WHAT CHANGED
Three months of search data
Average search position moved from 12.7 to 8.2 across the same window. The first blog post is already earning search traffic on its own, and the slime parties page ranks independently of the homepage.
Most importantly, it has brought in enquiries and booked jobs since launch — which is the only number that really counts.
87% of clicks are mobile, at a click-through rate of nearly 20%.
That's what happens when you design for the phone first instead of shrinking a desktop site. Desktop, for comparison, sits at 4.9%.

What this involved
A note on this site. Genevieve can edit her own website — that's rather the point. Some copy, imagery and layout may have changed since I finished the work. What's described here is what I built and why.
